Guelph Nissan is Proud To be a sponsor of Harry McMurtry and 500 Miles for Parkinson’sMay 4th, 2016
Guelph Nissan is proud to sponsor Harry McMurtry and 500 Miles for Parkinson’s.
Harry McMurtry will walk from New York City to his hometown, Toronto, to raise money for Parkinson’s research. He will be accompanied on the walk by Sue Thompson of Toronto and Dr. Ross Sugar of Baltimore, MD. As Harry, Sue and Ross all have Parkinson’s disease, walking up to 15 miles a day for 45 days is a tremendous challenge and one that makes this event a much bigger story about the disease itself.
The financial goal of 500 Miles for Parkinson’s is to raise $500,000 for Parkinson’s research. The proceeds will be pooled and divided amongst three beneficiaries:
- The Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson’s Research
- Morton and Gloria Shulman Movement Disorders Centre and The Edmond J. Safra Program in Parkinson’s Disease at the Toronto Western Hospital (led by Dr. Anthony Lang)
- Mount Sinai Beth Israel Movement Disorders Center in New York (led by Dr. Susan Bressman)
Guelph Nissan has donated a 2016 Nissan Titan XD and a Nissan NV 12 Passenger Van.
These two vehicles will be carrying supplies, equipment, and personal, along the 500 mile journey. Please join us, and donate at fivehundredmiles.org.
Stay tuned for more information and updates on Harry and his team as they walk 500 miles!
